Apply to be an siradio DJ
Split Infinity Radio shines through the talent and hard work of the people it employs. We are always open to welcoming new talent on board. Want to join our "family"? Then read on through the following pieces of information. After reading, if you think that you would be a valuable addition to our roster, you will find a form at the end of this page, to send in your application.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people with an exceptionally good grasp of the English language, both in writing and orally, who have verbal eloquence and are sharp witted. They should be gamers and geeks in one form or another (and the term "geek" covers a very broad spectrum nowadays), punctual with a good work ethic. They should also be enthusiastic about their work, team spirited, and confident to go on-air and entertain a big audience.

The finer details

  • Employment with Split Infinity Radio is strictly voluntary. There is no monetary compensation.
  • We do not and we will not employ anyone under 18 years of age.
  • All employees are expected to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per week for the radio (on and off air).
  • Applicants must be ready to commit to regular and recurring show times.
  • Applicants whose availability falls on times where we have schedule openings, will take precedence.
  • Applicants will need to have prepared the show they want to host, prior to their application.
  • We do not have a central studio. DJs broadcast from their own homes, and as such we accept applications globally
  • Applicants must have an upload speed of at least 256kbps.
  • Applicants must have a working microphone and headphones, or a headset.
  • We provide the necessary broadcast software to our staff. The software is only compatible with Microsoft Windows.
  • Effort and talent being put on the radio is always recognized and rewarded.
  • Prior experience in the radio business is not required, but will be looked upon favourably.
  • Technical prowess is also not a requirement, but will be considered as a bonus.
  • Applicants must posses a sufficiently big library of music. We do not provide the music to our staff.

Get on board with a show

While music is a big part of siradio, what differentiates us from the run-of-the-mill radios out there is our game and geek-centric content. As such, we do not want DJs that only want to get on-air and play music. We want DJs who have a solid idea regarding the show they want to broadcast. So, before you apply make sure that:
  • You have a show prepared; laid its theme and structure out
  • The show's theme is based around (in order of preference): 1) MMO Gaming, 2) General Gaming, 3) Geek, 4) Listener interaction game show.
  • It's structured in such a way that can be broadcast on a weekly basis
  • You have taken ownership of the show. Your show is identified by you, and you are identified by your show. If you leave siradio, you take the show with you.
  • Your show is broad enough that it can develop and adapt should its theme become irrelevant (i.e. you stop playing the game you do a show about, or the game shuts down)
  • You are ready to retire or fine tune your show if its not performing as well as you would have hoped it would.

And a few things more

  • Please do not upgrade your bandwidth, or invest in a microphone/headphones/headset just for the sake of applying to Split Infinity Radio. Keep in mind that acceptance to our ranks is not guaranteed.
  • If your application is accepted, you will go through an interview and a live tryout. You will have enough time to prepare for it.
  • Staff members represent Split Infinity Radio in their every day lives. Affiliations with activities that siradio does not tolerate, will result in an immediate termination of employment.
  • Before applying to join our staff, take a while to listen to our stream and our DJs, and spend some time in our chat channel. This will help you get acclimated with the spirit of the radio, its community and will save you a lot of trouble from things that are not what you expected them to be in the case of a hasty application.
  • We will not accept applicants who are already employed in a similar type of business (i.e. another radio station), unless they are willing to terminate their affiliation by the time they join our team.
  • We do not censor or enforce playlists to our staff members. We are advocates of freedom of speech, but we do expect sensible self-moderation.
  • New recruits will enter a period of probationary status, where some of the siradio privileges will be held back.
  • Take some time while filling up the application form. Hasty applications are usually bad applications. (Yes, this is a tip).
  • If you have any questions, feel free to send an e-mail to hr@siradio.fm and ask them.

You must have an active account with Split Infinity Radio and be logged in, in order to fill out the application form.
