Mid-November Releases A Go-Go

We're coming up to the meat of the month, as well as Thanksgiving in the U.S., and there are lots of juicy releases to get our hands on for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and the last generation.

Out in the U.S. already is Assassin's Creed: Unity on PC, PS4 and XBox One, but not without a heaping pile of performance issues. It's being dogged on Steam because of these issues, with complaints of poor frame rate, crashing, clipping, mouse lag on menus and game freezing to name a few. Ubisoft claims that it seems to affect AMD users, but I've seen Intel users also having issues.

Folks who have managed to actually play it seem to say it's more of the same sneaky killing, with a rather disjoint plot. They also complain the map is seriously overloaded with information to the point it's unusable.

At least the glitches are kinda funny.

Up next is of course the next World of Warcraft expansion Warlords of Draenor. A trailer released by Blizzard today shows off what's to come.

The basic gist is that in the era of Old Horde, before the fel blood, the Iron Horde are trampling the people of Draenor with their sights set on Azeroth next. The players are charging on Draenor at the moment the Iron Horde would come through to stop Azeroth's invasion. The fun part is you also get to bring legends from across time with you.

Nitty gritty details: There are new character models in the game, to make everybody look more detailed and awesome. If you haven't been playing, you can boost one of your character to level 90 to power to the new level cap of 100. You can build your own garrisons with your own followers, and customize it with farms, stables, armories, you name it. Some of the historical badasses you'll see include Kargath, Kilrogg, Gul'dan, Velen, Khadgar (your whiskers suck by the way), and Maraad.

WoD launch times are:

  • North America at 12:00 a.m. PST (1:00 a.m. Mountain, 2:00 a.m. CST, 3:00 a.m. EST) on Thursday, November 13 (Oceanic will launch at the same time as the US)
  • Europe at 12:00 a.m. CET on Thursday, November 13
  • Korea at 12:00 a.m. KST on Tuesday, November 18
  • Taiwan at 12:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday, November 18
  • China at 12:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday, November 18

More than a few sneaky videos have gone up for Dragon Age: Inquisition which releases on November 18. This is done by the team behind Dragon Age: Origins and hopes are high it won't follow in the disastrous footsteps of Dragon Age 2.  Some early reviewers are saying the game is around 85 hours long and yes, it's better than Dragon Age 2. The game has multiplayer and is massive. The regions unlock as you go, and some of them take many hours to go through. There are a ton of things to do in the game, and it will likely be drawing some hard comparisons to Skyrim, the current king of the RPG space.

So far I haven't seen much bad said of the game save for some glitches on early review builds that one hopes were settled before release. There have also been a few comments made that newcomers to the series are likely to be very lost if they haven't played the previous titles in the series. And yes, there are dragons.

Far Cry 4 comes pounding at the door, screaming for attention on November 18 as well. Another open world game, given the current angst with Ubisoft over AC:U, it could be a disastrous release on many levels. The studio has embraced how players seem to want to go wandering the open world making their own content as they pleased. Far Cry 4 takes place in a fictional country called Kyrat, with its' own history and religion. The main character AJ Gale ends up involved in the battle for the fate of the country. Let's just say riding an elephant through a gunfight. Yeah.

Let's not forget Little Big Planet 3 and Halo: The Master Chief Edition of course, our console exclusives, which we all probably know what to expect of those by now.
