New this week on Indie Saturday Premiere - DRILL

This weeks hard hitter Drill comes at you from Raleigh, N.C. Their acclaimed 2003 album "The Faceless Majority" under the name Drill 187 launched a 23 state tour winning rave reviews. In 2005 the band took a 6 year break reforming in 2011 for some reunion shows which re-ignited the drive to share their craft and I for one am ecstatic they are back! Between Jason's powerful vocals and the sick beats these guys should be back on top in no time. I had a chance to catch up with Jason this week:

1) What brought you guys together as a band?

We actually have been a band for a long time, from about 1998 to early 2005....We had major management from 2001 till 2004(Rick Sales - Slayer's mgr. and then John Tovar - discovered Marilyn Manson), toured half the country on our own, got TONS of great press for our last record "The Faceless Majority"(2002) and were very close to signing a major label deal in 2003....No other way to explain it other than it just didn't happen.... and so, burned out from working so hard for several years, we disbanded in early 2005...Then we got back together in 2012 to do a reunion show and had so much fun, we decided to stay together and start writing again...and here we are...We are just 5 brothers that actually enjoy making music and hanging out with each other....We are all pros and we appreciate each other for what each member brings to the table..

2) Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Every day life would be the primary inspiration, at least for me(Jason Lilley - vocals/lyricist)...I write all the songs based off my own experiences or from things that I hear about and have strong feelings towards...My guys pretty much say the same thing...If you write about what you see, hear, taste, feel and touch....It's REAL

3) What can fans expect for 2014?

2014 is going to be a good year for us I think...We just signed a record deal with Turkey Vulture Records, an indie label out of Illinois that is a subsid of Universal, so we'll get great online distribution and we plan to just get out there some, play some shows, see what happens....We are really looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones!!

From The Ashes Of Man will be released on May 9th with a CD release party happening in Raleigh, N.C. Can't make the release party? No worries their music will be available on ITunes & Amazon after May 9th. Be sure to hit up their Facebook & Reverbnation for all the latest news & let them know who sent you!
