New this week on Indie Saturday Premiere - The Taking

This weeks Electronic Rock band comes from "deep in the heart of Texas"  and has shared the stage with Three Days Grace, Evanescense, Seether and more! After their debut album they took their artistic talent to the next level by working with producer Jeff Blue who has worked with Linkin Park and Korn to name a few as well as working with co-producer Mike Gonsolin. Their new sound is comparable to Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, etc. I had a chance to catch up with Dominic while they are working on their new singles:

What brought you guys together as a band?

We, as The Taking, have been a band for a little over a year now. Myself and our drummer, Daniel, are brothers and have been playing music together since we were very young. Dominic came into the mix at a really transitional time in the band and has brought so much life and creativity to the band ever since he joined. Our newest member, David, joined right at the early stages of The Taking and gave us that final piece that we had been searching for musically, creatively and as a fellow bandmate. Together, we have a fantastic dynamic when it comes to writing, performing and being a tight knit band!

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

We, as artists, draw our inspiration from a wide variety of sources. We all appreciate and respect all types of music and art. A few of our biggest inspirations are Michael Jackson, Tool, Collective Soul, Breaking Benjamin, Alterbridge, Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace and Nine Inch Nails.

What can fans expect for 2014?

A lot of things are going on with The Taking in 2014. We just released two brand new tracks that we recorded in LA. The tracks were produced by Mike Gonsolin and Nick Nittoli and are the perfect mix of modern electro and hard rock! We're constantly writing and recording so be on the lookout for new music later in the year and we'll also be in negotiations for some national touring runs as well.
