Sleeping Dogs

Take a look inside to find out what I thought about the brand spanking new RPG game known as Sleeping Dogs. I'll beat with you with a fish, stab you with meathook and then dive from a running car whilst shooting out tires... Kid you not, all possible in here... Read on my Lil Jimmies, read on

 Sleeping Dogs

Well well! My first review – woooo! And is it all about that awesome game known as Sleeping Dogs! So I’ve 100% the game, yeah I have no life right now so I’ve clocked well over 40 hours on this game in the space of a week – Pathetic I know but I was tired! But anyways, onto the actual game before I start going on about me.

Sleeping Dogs is and RPG “GTA style” game set in Hong Kong, you play a character known as Wei Shen who has come back from the states. He is a police officer with a bit of a troubled past surrounding the Sun On Yee, I wont go into to much detail but let us just say “Thug Life Choose Him” kind of fits a little bit. You get pretty much put into it with a lovely little bit of cinematic stuff that shows you the score and is rather enjoyable from the start.

Now, I will say this first, I was playing this game on my PC with a keyboard and mouse, I noticed that some of the controls were a pain at times which I can only assume would be down to the fact I was keyboard/mousing it but hey ho! Moving onto the actual gameplay itself I was really impressed by the combination of things… For some reason I noticed basic elements of Batman, Witcher and of course GTA. The fighting system is very similar to that of Batman “Counter when this happens” and direct and punch… That’s about as similar as it got, maybe because I’ve been re-doing Batman I’m seeing that stuff. Through out the world of Sleeping Dogs you will come across vendors and the like which grant you temporary bonuses (Witcher I guess – sue me I like the game!)…

You can do a fair few impressive things, you get Slow Motion moments when you are leaping over objects with a gun (seriously, shooting someone in the head in Slow Mo is amazingly fun!). The ‘interactive’ fighting objects are rather amusing… Burning people alive, throwing them onto sword-fish heads, hooking them onto meat hooks and hell even throwing them into Ice-Chuck makers… Yeah, this game is bloody and awesome! You also get some cool cars to drive around with, steal, and hell even ride motorbikes. The car chases and such are a bit limited but that isn’t really a problem when you can literally DIVE off one car and get into another in pure action-style.

The game itself offers a rather beautiful storyline that takes you through being a foot-soldier as an Undercover cop to dealing with the pains of watching people you have become attached too. I must admit, towards the end even –I- wanted to kill the sons of a b---- But I digress.

Overall I would give this game a cracking 8.9. The main issues I had was that some of fight scenes got annoying and the main storyline, although great could have been stretched a couple more hours in my opinion. Have fun playing this people – enjoying the Karaoke and try not to kill people with fish!
