Workless Wednesday: This Is The Only Level Review

Get used to looking at this screen, This is the only level.

First off I'd like to thank those who participated in last Wednesdays Challenge and those people are Crossczech, Beauthegamer, and DJ Verve who will all walk away with some delicious wasabits....except for Verve, no soup for you. Now that thats out of the way I would like to remind you all that you can submit flash games for Workless Wednesday reviews here just like Crossczech did and you may just see your game on the front page and some wasabits in your pockets.

Moving on I would like to start this review with stating that sometimes the simplest ideas can become the greatest challenges. I say this mostly in refference to This Is The Only Level which is designed by jmtb02 and produced by Armor Games. Jmtb02 is also the mastermind behind some favorites as the game Hedgehog Launch, which we mentioned in last weeks article, and one of the best games of 2008 Achievement Unlocked. The basic point of the game is to get from point A to point B as quickly and death free as possible...however there is a catch. Said catch is that they don't outright tell you how to get from point A to point B and some of the levels can be very tricky indeed.

More After The Break

Garnering a 9 out of 10 across many flashgame websites this game has quickly jumped into the runnings to be one of the best games of 2009. With the signature design and easy to learn controls it will capture your attention for a short time but continue to bug the back of your mind for quiet a while. For those of us who have played many flash games that follow a similiar premise in confuzzlery (Kon-Fuzz-Uhl-Ree) it might seem simple in the beginning but This Is The Only Level almost had me reaching for the walkthrough, almost.

Originally when I gave the game a quick play through at first I got stuck and frustrated. This was probably due to the fact that the games lax exterior and interesting art design. The old saying "Never judge a book by its cover" comes to mind and I should have given it more thought because the game simply wiped the floor with me in the first run. I think I made it to one of the teen levels before completely giving up. However, I'm very glad I went and gave the game a second chance as it turned out to be a delightful game once I had time to sit and devote to thinking. This is not a play while doing other things game as you will need full brain power to focus on a few of these levels and their unforgiving clues.

All and all I would definitely recommend this game if you're looking to kill 15 to 25 minutes before or after class. Even if you're justl ooking for something fun and stimulating this is the game for you. If you like the style of gameplay present in the game you should definitely check out Achievement Unlocked which follows a kooky metagaming "points are god" philosophy and gives on less than it takes from your mind. This weeks challenge is set to see if you can beat my time AND have less or equal deaths than I did in TWO (yes, two) run throughs. Thats one to learn the maps and one to set your time! Please see this thread to post your screenshots and throw down! Once again if you have any ideas of flash games you'd like to see posted or reviewed on Workless Wednesday drop us a line here and let us know!
